Building Your Self-Worth

What is ‘self-worth’?

Self-worth is how YOU see yourself. How do you rate yourself?

Many people seek validation from those around them instead of seeking their own validation. When you’re looking for attention, when you don’t have any standards, when you accept any treatment that comes your way, YOU ARE SELLING YOURSELF SHORT. PERIOD.

Really the first step on understanding your self-worth is to understand how YOU talk to yourself. Do you internalize the negative comments that people make about you more than the positives that you see in yourself? Think about it. Are your actions based on how others would perceive you more than your own values?

Analogy:

Chanel. Prada. Louis Vuitton. All these designers, DO NOT go on sale. Only a select group of people can afford these brands. Same situation with your worth. If you sell yourself like a Hot Topic backpack vs a Louis Vuitton handbag, guess what kind of customer you will you get? Period.

KNOW THYSELF.

A quote I love from Yung Pueblo “If you’re far away from yourself, how could you ever be close to another?” This speaks volume. KNOW YOURSELF and upgrade your values so you can step into your own power and:

KNOW WHAT YOU WILL ACCEPT AND WHAT YOU WON’T.

If you do not know where you are in this spectrum, I would invite you to ask yourself: Can I handle being alone? Truly alone. Just with myself and no one else around? If you’re not sure, I strongly suggest taking a day to yourself. No social media, no Netflix, no other distractions. Sit with your own thoughts and journal. Are you happy? If not, ask yourself why. And outline steps to reach your happiness.

Reminder: When you know your self-worth, other people can only add to what you already know. Because what you know, cannot be taken away.

When you know your damn self is a rockstar, that cannot be taken away. Boo, you’re solid. You don’t need people bringing you down.

I AM MAGICAL.

Say that to yourself every morning because YOU ARE MAGICAL.

My recommendation: Know your VALUE. And then add tax.

Personally for me, I know I’ve reached my self - worth because I am not desperate for nobody, and I’m not desperate for attention. I know my worth. A person that comes my way, I’ll ask “what value do you bring to my life?” So I would encourage you to think about what value your current circle brings you. If you already know it’s time to upgrade your circle, then upgrade it. Don’t just sit.

Sharing with much love! - Gaby
