To Be Loved

Inspired by Moulin Rouge

My all-time favorite musical has always been ‘Moulin Rouge.’ I had forgotten how much it was my favorite until it came onto my Hulu subscription, which by the way I have not seen any new musicals for that matter. The premise of the entire story: it follows an English writer who falls in love with a courtesan. She aspires to be rich, famous, and a star — for she never felt any feelings for a man. After all, she was always paid to make a man feel loved — in this case, the Duke of Paris. Ultimately, the courtesan, a beautiful young dying woman, whom was trying to fit into society through class, money, and power. etc, realized that she wanted to feel something more. But she couldn’t put it into words until she met the English writer.

Why do I love this movie you ask? Because they emphasize:

“The greatest thing you’ll ever learn is to love and be loved in return”

Through my time being alone, and not ashamed to admit it, I’ve learned so much about myself and deeply get to know myself. I think it would be difficult to share love with someone else if you didn’t fully know yourself. For me, ultimately, love is a frequency. You can see it radiate just by waking up, seeing, hearing, having your family alive, and feeling. When you remind yourself that love is being you in all that you are, only love can exist in your world.

I love seeing someone in their element and just expressing themselves. The most beautiful love you can share is the love of being yourself and embracing yourself. Only then, can we come from a place of love.
