The Journey
During these times, I’ve had the opportunity to take a pause and reflect on my life. Allow myself to sit still with my own thoughts and recognize which patterns bring me happiness and identify which patterns inhibit my self-growth. If there’s anything I’ve learned, it’s commitment to self-growth is an act of self-love. To authentically recognize who I am as a person and accept all of who I am, even the ‘bad’ patterns of myself. However, this does not mean I should allow my bad patterns to remain because I recognize that this can cause harm not only to myself but to others around me.
Intentionally becoming self-aware of what triggers those bad patterns and breaking that cycle is what will take you to a step towards being happy and your truest self. Just a brief example is projecting your anxiety/anger onto other people when you’re having to deal with a situation on your own. The more you break those bad patterns, you become a better version of yourself. And you want to be the best version of yourself to truly enjoy your life and bring your best self to those around you.
To be intentionally self-aware is to understand your mind. You see, your mind is so complex that you need time and patience to understand what triggers the good and bad patterns. What walls have you built in your mind and why? Why is it that you have built these walls in the first place? Addressing that may be going to the darkest places of ourselves but facing that and accepting it will free you. What did you learn from that?
When we recognize, accept, and learn. The mind becomes clearer. It’s super important to have a clear mind because the mind dictates how you navigate situations as well. A mind without clarity only causes more pain and suffering to yourself and others. This does not happen overnight. It requires time and patience because:
Your mind dictates how you perceive yourself and others.
Your mind restricts what you can accomplish
Your mind creates scenarios that does not exist
Your mind triggers and perpetuates patterns.
Ultimately, the mind becomes a game of You vs You.
I’ve accepted that this is my journey and it will take time and patience. To remind myself that I need to commit to self-growth and release any patterns that will not bring me happiness.
